Ladies and Gentlemen; Start Your Improvement

What is getting you down? As we all know, there are many twists and turns, setbacks and surprises that life can throw at you. Half the time we don’t see these coming and that makes coping with unexpected situations very difficult. Symptoms stemming from these changes in life can be a sharp reduction in confidence, depression and overall loss. Negative feelings or a sense of loss do not discriminate between male and female or in fact, age.

Perhaps you are a victim of your company downsizing or you have recently separated or divorced from your spouse. A family tragedy may have occurred or your doctor has given you an unfavourable diagnosis. Your child may have been born with a birth defect that was not detected earlier. Any of these situations can cause the above symptoms and leave you feeling dejected and a deep anxiety creeps into your life. Of course, there are many other reasons that may cause an interruption in an otherwise normal life. So how do you cope?

There are any number of potential solutions available to you regardless of your circumstance. While therapy sessions with a proven psychologist can be very productive, there is a percentage of the population who are reluctant to open up to a stranger. For those people who would rather keep their issues private there are many excellent self help books for men and women available on the market.

Self help books for men can help you to come to terms with your situation and lead you on the path to recovery. Most of these books are designed to overcome your anxiety and feelings of hopelessness and turn them into a positive energy that is needed to go forward in life. Getting to the root of the problem and offering the necessary steps to a happier and more productive life are within the pages of these books.

Self help books for women are equally beneficial even though they can be quite different than those for men. While the theories remain the same, they are written more from a female perspective. Professional women and stay at home moms quite often have a different set of issues in today’s society. Nevertheless, the road to betterment is no less important than those of their male spouses or colleagues.

The earlier you recognize the need for improvement and begin the exercises offered in self help books for men and women, the earlier you will find peace and your own deserved fulfillment.

Important Advice You Should Follow If You’re In Need Of Self Help

By Said Mohamed Ereg

Personal development is a way to improve who you are as a person, both mentally and emotionally, and to improve the life that you lead. You need to learn as much information as you can to get the most of your personal development journey. This article contains a number of personal development tips to help you get started.

By being a leader, you can help improve your personal development. When thinking about leadership, think about it in terms of your level of influence on the world around you. Analyze your leadership progress. Are there events that have had major impacts on your life? How have those events changed you, if at all? What personal qualities do you have that make you a good team player? Ask yourself these questions in order to see how you will be as a member of a team.

Try to always make every day better than the one before. Try to improve yourself constantly. Whatever you did yesterday, do it that much better today.

Try to rid of your life of disorganization. Organization will make you feel good about yourself, and make you feel confident. In addition, you won’t stress out anymore from the messes. There is something very calming about knowing that everything is in its place.

Getting healthier is a personal development step that can have far-reaching positive repercussions. When you feel good physically, you feel better mentally and emotionally too. A healthy body also means that your mind will be sharper, and you may not have to spend as much money on heath care. Place a priority on having good health.

One important element of personal development is attaining and maintaining good health. Eating right and working out are part of the equation, but motivation is the real key. Make sure you try your best to improve yourself in all areas in life, when you do this improving your health becomes easier.

Your goals for personal development should be precise enough so that you are able to enjoy success. If you have a list of specific goals you want to accomplish, you will have an easier time traveling along the path to success. By meeting challenges, experiencing success will shortly follow.

You need to be both modest and wise to get ahead. Learn from the situations that you face each day, and be sure you realize that there are things in your life that you cannot change. You do have limitations; being modest helps you accept this fact. Use wisdom to learn from the past and do better in your future.

Not only is getting organized an achievement in itself, but it will help you to meet other goals faster. Try a system that allows you to break each goal down into very small components. You will have an easier time achieving each individual component than you would achieving the goal as a whole. There are several ways to do this, including jotting notes in a day planner or using a complete notebook for monitoring your goals.

You can’t make everyone happy, but you can make yourself happy. This doesn’t mean that you should only think of yourself, especially if it hurts others, but you often have to put yourself first or no one else will. When you live your life always staying true to your beliefs, morals and ethics, happiness should naturally follow you down the path of personal development.

As you read in this article, you can improve your life and your well being with personal development. Success comes in learning how to find a personal development strategy that works. Try some of the informative advice in the above article to take those first steps toward your personal development goals.

Small Changes You Can Make For A Successful Life

By Charlie Badderly

While I do not always end up managing to put each of the following tips into practice, I do make a big effort to do so each day. This is a list of my favorite tips to improving your life. All it takes is a little bit each day and you will see wondrous changes. Feel free to add your own tips to the comments.

Keep a Schedule

It is a very good idea to write down the tasks you need to achieve in each day. As you complete them, tick them off. You should not, however, feel like you are bound to your list. If you don’t manage to do everything, it doesn’t matter – move any incomplete tasks from today on to tomorrow’s list. This is also a great help if you are a procrastinator.

Break the Chain

If you have a lot of patterns in your life, try breaking them – do something different every day. Let’s say you always order the same meal at your regular Friday night restaurant. Why not try something else this Friday? Not only do you get to broaden your experiences of life, you open up many doors for the future. Not long ago I would never eat oriental foods or seafood. Then one day I decided that I would just try it. Seafood is now one of my favorite foods and I would hate to be without it. Because I discovered that I love Thai and Chinese food, I can eat in any restaurant I want. That first step also meant that I am now willing to try absolutely any food (except maybe the ones on the Top 10 most Disgusting Foods list). My disliking for those foods had a much greater impact as well – I would only holiday in countries that had foods I felt safe with. Since then I have been to Oriental countries and loved it.

I’ve listed some other smaller helpful tips for you here too:

To never get bored again become an interesting person

To attract your ideal partner become the person worth such partner

To achieve your desires you have to pay the required price

Know that the more you fail, the quicker you will succeed

Get very specific about what goal you want to achieve

List all the things you are grateful for

Spend 10 minutes a day being completely present

Other Personal Development Tips

If you find it hard to control your emotions and in general your attitude is negative, this article about negative attitude will help you make changes in your character.

Sometimes you need to use psychological games to understand your own nature and the nature of other people.

If you know what you need to work on but you simply lack inspiration to do that, read inspirational quotes – they will motivate you to take action to improve your current circumstances.

Best Advice For Personal Development

By Charlie Badderly

It’s up to you to improve your life circumstances through a personal development growth plan (PDP). If you want success in your career or personal life, change unhealthy habits or character traits. A PDP is an essential ingredient. After you’ve done you’re plan, we look at some other self development blogs to get you even more inspired!

Decide what it is you want to change or improve in your life. Make a list of resources that will be helpful in making those changes. This list can include books, audio tapes or CD’s, web sites, software and online courses. Schedule a specific amount of time each day to use those resources in pursuit of your goals. Take notes on what you are learning. Taking notes will help you keep track of your progress. This will also provide you with tangible data if you plan to evaluate your efforts and developments toward your goal. Take action steps. Usually a good personal development book or course will have action steps included but if not, make up your own. Celebrate your success with a reward worthy of your efforts. Repeat until you experience the success you desire.

Having a list of goals will help you pinpoint what you want in your personal development growth plan. If you want to get out of debt, look for books on financial freedom.

Learn From Other People You can gain from the success of other people and you can learn from their mistakes. Your own experience is a harsh teacher so learn from the mistakes of others. If you can find a mentor or coach your task will be easier. Read as many books as you can. If you can’t afford to buy books or don’t want to spend the money borrow them from the library.

Do What You Like. Its no good doing things that you don’t like. Pick methods that appeal to you. Pick people to help you that you like. Make sure you are following your heart but don’t run from the hard issues. They need to be addressed one day.

Always give 100%. I learned this when I started lifting weights with a personal trainer. He would keep me doing bench presses until I literally could not move one single millimeter. And then he told me I had given 100%. The same rule applies to mental work too. Now I know what 100% means, I also know what 99% feels like. And I can tell you, it’s a bitch. You’re left with that nagging feeling that you didn’t give it all. So always give 100%, and then stop and go home. Or go do something else.

Let go of everything that’s good. Letting go of something good is the hardest thing to do. I recommend you only do it when it no longer makes you happy. I let go of a 60+ hours per week job. I kept the same job, just turned it into a 40+ hours job. I’ve always loved my job but at a certain point I felt something was missing. And it wasn’t something was missing in my job. Something was missing outside of my job. But the only way to add stuff into my life outside of my job was to let go of a part of my job first. At first I didn’t succeed because I hadn’t decided yet what I was going to replace those hours with. It was only when I decided what I wanted in other areas of my life that I managed to let go of part of my job. And now, every area of my life feels great, perhaps for the first time ever in my 35 years existence. Balance, I guess, is the right word. And funny enough, I love my job even more now.

Money And Spirituality; How Much Is Enough?

Copyright © 2013 Robert Owens-Greygrass

Hello my relatives; I have been living with and around spiritually motivated people all my life. There are many thoughts and ideas as to what it means to be a spiritual person. The one I want to talk about right now is money.

Too often we are told in order to be spiritual we must be poor. Or, you can’t be spiritual and earn lots of money. Or, we must take vows of poverty. A fellow theater artist told me once; “when I took my vows of poverty I was very serious.” I told him, I never took a vow of poverty, I just accepted it. He laughed. I look for the humor and irony in everything I can, but that time I didn’t mean it as a joke. Another man (living on the Red Road) told me we believe if you have lots of money it will make you sick.

Well I am kinda tired of it. I have worked hard to get my life and career to a place where I am working fairly steady, yet too often I find myself broke. My wife is frustrated and worse yet, going on a family gathering in a restaurant or some other event that involves the kids, and grandkids and surprise! I have little or no money to contribute. Tired of it.

I will always practice my spiritual ways and knowledge and keep that in my life. More intensely at times and less intensely at other times. Lately I have been hearing from many people, whom I have always considered spiritually motivated, that are having the same feelings and thoughts about earning money and living as a spiritual person.

I always ask, what is the “proper” or “right” job for a spiritual person? Many people I know are healers of some kind. Massage therapists, counselors, acupuncturists Reiki experts, and so on. But many people, are mechanics, welders, contractors, teachers, actors, writers, etc.

What MLM or other money opportunity is the right one for you, me and people who live spiritual lives? And, (this is the big one) how much money is too much? We know what too little is…most of us have been doing that for way too long.

So I think it is time to earn some money, a lot more money than I have in the past. I don’t think that will send me to Hell…it helps to not believe in hell, but you know what I mean.

You could be anywhere, doing anything, and you are here doing this, thank you.

Get Productive With These Awesome Tips

By Charlie Badderly

Heuristics are rules intended to help you solve problems. When a problem is large or complex, and the optimal solution is unclear, applying a heuristic allows you to begin making progress towards a solution even though you can’t visualize the entire path from your starting point. Heuristics have many practical applications, and one of my favorite areas of application is personal productivity. Suppose your goal is to climb to the peak of a mountain, but there’s no trail to follow. An example of a heuristic would be: Head directly towards the peak until you reach an obstacle you can’t cross. Whenever you reach such an obstacle, follow it around to the right until you’re able to head towards the peak once again. This isn’t the most intelligent or comprehensive heuristic, but in many cases it will work just fine, and you’ll eventually reach the peak.

Heuristics don’t guarantee you’ll find the optimal solution, nor do they generally guarantee a solution at all. But they do a good enough job of solving certain types of problems to be useful. Their strength is that they break the deadlock of indecision and get you into action. As you take action you begin to explore the solution space, which deepens your understanding of the problem. As you gain knowledge about the problem, you can make course corrections along the way, gradually improving your chances of finding a solution. If you try to solve a problem you don’t initially know how to solve, you’ll often figure out a solution as you go, one you never could have imagined until you started moving. This is especially true with creative work such as software development. Often you don’t even know exactly what you’re trying to build until you start building it.

Productivity heuristics are behavioral rules (some general, some situation-specific) that can help us get things done more efficiently. Here are some of my favorites:

Daily goals. Without a clear focus, it’s too easy to succumb to distractions. Set targets for each day in advance. Decide what you’ll do; then do it.

Timeboxing. Give yourself a fixed time period, like 30 minutes, to make a dent in a task. Don’t worry about how far you get. Just put in the time.

Pareto. The Pareto principle is the 80-20 rule, which states that 80% of the value of a task comes from 20% of the effort. Focus your energy on that critical 20%, and don’t overengineer the non-critical 80%.

Promise. Tell others of your commitments, since they’ll help hold you accountable.

Continuum. At the end of your workday, identify the first task you’ll work on the next day, and set out the materials in advance. The next day begin working on that task immediately.

Randomize. Pick a totally random piece of a larger project, and complete it. Pay one random bill. Make one phone call. Write page 42 of your book.

Cross-pollination. Sign up for martial arts, start a blog, or join an improve group. You’ll often encounter ideas in one field that can boost your performance in another.

Gratitude. When someone does you a good turn, send a thank-you card. That’s a real card, not an e-card. This is rare and memorable, and the people you thank will be eager to bring you more opportunities.

Zone out. Enter the zone of peak creativity, and watch your output soar.

Scotty. Estimate how long a task will take to complete. Then start a timer, and push yourself to complete it in half that time.
