Music For Being On The Move

Let me be honest with you: it took me a long, long time to love working out. I tried jogging on my home treadmill with the television on but found it difficult to focus on anything complex in terms of plot while I was wheezing and exerting myself. Audiobooks gave me a similar trouble. They were too slow and soothing. God forbid I listened to anything funny. Having to stop your workout because you can’t stop laughing, on top of the gasping you’re already doing, is incredibly hard on your body and interrupts your productivity. Music is clearly the solution. In part because I was procrastinating and avoiding my actual workout. I spent a long time making a ton of workout playlists and mixes when I started my health and wellness journey. Here are some of the tips I have for making a playlist that helps keep you mentally stimulated and inspired for the duration of your workout. After all, there’s no shortage of scientific studies that show us the way the brain and body respond to music. This can be as vital a fitness aid as having the right sneakers, a gym membership, etc.

Much like the score of a film, you want to structure your playlist around the tempo and pace of your workout, matching the tone to the predicted energy level. Your first couple of tracks should be aggressive, inspiring and fast paced to keep you feeling fresh and energetic. Then, somewhere in the middle of my playlist, I usually include something a little bit slower – nothing too relaxing, now – in order to help increase my focus. I can tune out and get bored if the playlist is all the same tempo. Slowing down helps increase my motivation and ability to really commit.

Of course, the type of workout will also dictate what exactly you’re pacing for. A boot camp Miami style workout, for example, will not only demand very snug headphones, but intense music the whole time through. You need tracks that will resonate with your body while you try and fall as completely into the workout as possible. The intensity of the boot camp style workout is going to demand your all. I’m talking heavy dance music, electronica, chiptune, heavy metal, hardcore punk, K-pop – whatever you can find that feels driving, as long as the pace remains high. Group training Miami classes always blast upbeat pop music – do you ever notice what a difference it makes in the pace of the group?

Music has always been a tool that’s been a valuable tool for working out. Sports performance professionals know it when their team song blares before a game, and we know it when we plug our earphones in and go out for a jog. The right music can be what puts you over the edge and gets you to that place where you can keep going and going.

How To Take Control Of Your Emotions

By Joe Searle

Do Emotions Control Your Life?

To a certain degree, yes I do think that emotions can control your life and for many people, they are also running their lives. Emotions are pre-determined and they make us human. Some people think that you can merely ignore your emotions or even worse, try eliminate all emotion from their life!

The problem with this belief is that no matter what you try to do, no matter how hard you try to supress the way you feel, your emotions will always win. They are banging on the door of your mind. The more you try to ignore it, the louder and louder they bang and the harder and harder they pound. This is where some people will inevitably bottle up these emotions until they explode and depending on their personality type, each person will respond in a different way, none of which are particularly pretty to witness. Some time ago, there was a lady who knew her husband was cheating on her, she knew and remained silent for the good of her kids, but also because she was so scared to lose him. The longer and longer this went on, the more and more it became apparent that the cycle of endless cheating would not end. More than a year down the line, she could not take being hurt any longer and just up and left.

Now why did this happen? Simple, she bottled up all the emotions that she had, which she subsequently decided to ignore. Emotions are not something that should be considered as a weakness or a negative thing, they are there to serve as a warning that one or more of your beliefs and life rules have been violated. This woman never pulled her husband up on the belief that he was cheating. If she had, she may well have found that actually, the husband was not cheating on her at all, he was working another job just to feed their family.

Now there was clearly a big issue with communication, as a matter of fact there was no communication and this was a big part of the problem. However this is not something that I will cover in this article. The point here is that emotions can not only be warning signs, they can be felt by people as a result of someone’s perception of a particular situation, even if the situation is being perceived completely wrong. This lady took her husband’s absence as a violation of her own rules, perceiving it to be that he didn’t care about her or want to be with her, she then created a story in her mind as to why he wasn’t spending time with her and showing her that he still cared, when really he was just incredibly burnt out.

Now, emotions serve as a very useful tool for anyone trying to improve the quality of their own life, their business, and their relationships, so let’s take a brief look at the 10 emotions I Belief to be directly responsible for the quality of one’s life.

The 10 Emotions

Discomfort – this is not an extreme emotion but will leave you feeling uneasy feeling as if something is not quite “right”

Fear – this is possibly one of the most useful as it is a clear warning sign for us. Scared, frightened, are words that could be used to described this emotion

Hurt – this could be when someone violates one of your rules that you live life by, this can also be linked to a feeling of loss, which could be tangible or intangible, depending on the situation that can caused this emotion

Anger – being enraged, livid and aggressive, this emotion can be the most externally shown emotion and can take many people by surprise through the actions of the person experiencing it

Frustration – this is an emotion that entrepreneurs and business people often experience and can stop even the most dedicated people in their tracks. This can be altered to serve you in your endeavours as with the other emotions which I will explain shortly.

Disappointment – a feeling of not quite making it, not performing at best or being let down are often used to describe this emotion.

Guilt – This is an emotion that you must act on quickly if you can to stop it from growing root. Sometimes this may not be possible because it has been left too long already, but this can potentially be another devastating emotion if people do not control it.

Inadequacy – the feeling of not being as good as the next person, not as smart, not as strong, not an equal.

Being overwhelmed/Depressed – sometimes people go into a state whereby they describe themselves as being depressed and overloaded in their life, it can also be a pre cursor to the next emotion

Loneliness – The last emotion is that of being lonely, you may feel like the walls are closing in, nobody is there to help you or talk to you. A feeling of being completely on your own can be horrible, especially as we humans are very social creatures and as such, we need connection and love from time to time

How to Utilize Your Emotions

So now you understand the 10 emotions, how do you go about changing them to help you create a better standard of life and increase your own happiness? There are two ways in which you can do this, changing either your perception of your emotion, or changing the situation you are in. For example if you are running your own business and all of a sudden the demand for your products takes a nosedive. You may well have emotions of fear, discomfort, anger, frustration, you could be feeling a number of different emotions depending on your past references and experiences and your own personality type.

So you have these feelings, but remember, they are there to serve you, they are telling you that you need to change the way you are looking at it and perceiving it, or you need to change the situation that you are in. In this case you could first change the perception of the situation and instead of looking at the sudden lack of demand as a bad thing, you can turn it around and say that now you know that demand is shifting so you may need to consider altering the product, changing the product or even the way that it is marketed. This way you will turn it around and potentially make an even bigger profit than before. Notice that after changing your perception, you are then already ready to change the situation that you are in.This may not be the case for every situation, so you need to be mindful as to what you are feeling and what is causing the emotion, then act accordingly to make that shift and change the quality of your life for the better.

Ways To Increase Motivation

What pulls you, drives you, pushes you?

It might seem like the people around us are very polarized — some people want to make a difference to the environment, while others want to retire at 50 — but research shows that humans are actually much more complex and multifaceted than this.

It isn’t just one thing that motivates and allows us to make that motivation breakthrough, but many things all at once. Researchers have narrowed down the many motivators to a few distinct categories. If you want to get to that motivation place within, then here are a few pointers that will aid in your self help motivation.

Goal Setting

Setting goals can improve motivation and get you moving. But when setting goals make sure they feel achievable, realistic, and that they really do motivate you. Improving your average sale at work may not push your buttons, though it looks good on a resume — so what does push your buttons? Saving up for a holiday to Fiji? Taking art classes at night?

These sorts of goals might inspire you to push your average sale up, for example, more than just focusing on improving your work performance.

Goals should feel exciting. They are tied in with your dreams you have for your future. If, however, you find that your goal setting is too daunting or feels to difficult, you may have overreached what you feel is capable and achievable. Instead of writing a novel, maybe just start with a short story.

Then work your way up to 5 stories. Once you have completed 10 stories, even if it takes a whole year, writing a novel may not freak you out. It will probably feel more achievable by then.

Understanding Your Drives

According to a study published by the Incentive Research Foundation in 2011, there are four basic drives that determine human motivation: acquiring, comprehending, bonding and defending.

Acquiring is about the tangible benefits we can gain e.g. money, skills, training, promotions, respect, etc.

Comprehending has to do with doing something we feel is meaningful, such as working with complex ideas, creativity, or participating in a job that makes a difference to the world. Bonding all about friendship, camaraderie, and social connection.

Defending takes into account issues around fairness and justice — we are more motivated to work with and for people who treat us (and others) well, than those who treat us (and others) unfairly.

While some people may feel they lean more towards one drive than another, the studies show humans actually need a balance of all four areas. Failing in one area can negatively impact how we feel about all other areas. When you achieve a holistic balance of all four drives, you naturally access that motivation place within, make that motivation breakthrough, and become highly motivated.

Teaming Up

Setting goals, chanting affirmations, working on projects — it all helps, but sometimes you just need a bit more external support.

Some of us thrive from working alone, the triumph is all the more great once you reach the finish line all by yourself. But some of us are team players. Support, camaraderie, creative collaboration — working with others brings a lot to our lives and the things we are trying so desperately to achieve.

If you are not sure what you prefer, just try it. Invite someone to collaborate on a project, partner up with some like-minded colleagues, or join a group. Not only does this sort of networking provide you wish fresh perspectives and ideas, it also provides accountability. Tell people about your goals and projects.

It can really motivate you to know that someone supports your dreams, and is cheering you on.

Conserving Energy

Increasing motivation is hard when you are tired. Often people are hard-working and dedicated to their goals. But dedication can lead to fatigue, if you don’t pace yourself and self-manage your energy output. Even when you love what you do, even when you feel happy and excited, the mind and body need to rest.

Being “on” all the time, or worse, experiencing chronic stress, can lead to fatigue and exhaustion that feels as if it leeches into every part of life. At this point, you need to be realistic. It is hard to be motivated if you have pushed your system too hard.

To increase your motivation, the best thing you can do is take time out and re-fuel. Take a break from your goals, take a break even from your career or job, just for a little while, if it is possible.

People who care about you always want to help out. Ask those around you to share the load, so you can get away for a while. Ask yourself how long — you know the answer. One weekend? A week? A month?

Soon as you get the rest you need, being motivated and enthusiastic about your goals becomes a whole lot easier.

Spice Up Your Workout!

Once you finally get into a good workout routine, there’s nothing like it. The rhythm of a good routine is so important to continuing to maintain that exercise habit. Once you fall out of it, starting up again is almost more difficult than starting in the first place! The trick is to make sure you are frequently updating your routine. Introducing new group training Miami classes, for example, every few months can be a great way of keeping things different. Stability and consistancy in your workout is necessary but too much of it can create a total lack of mental stimulation, and without that, motivation tends to run low. Staying in routine while staying out of total constricting predictability can be a hard balance to find. Here are some suggestions on how to keep that excitement going.

If you love to jog and have a favorite predictable route, it may be time to substitute every third run or so with a new location. This is one that has kept my routine alive for years! I’m blessed to live near several wonderful parks with many different trails. Every few jogs, I make a conscious decision to run somewhere I’ve either never run before, or haven’t run in a while. This deepens my appreciation for my regular route while also keeping things interesting. Although I never have been much of a fan of treadmills, I have been known to schedule a run at my local air conditioned gym just to give myself a break from the same scenery.

I also try and make time to use personal training Miami classes as a way of identifying my problem areas, or places I’d like to work on physically, and then trying new exercises or classes to focus on those areas. Boot camp style Miami workouts were a great suggestion made by a trainer at my local gym, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Sometimes, getting that outside sports performance professional opinion can be a lifesaver when it comes to breaking up the monotony of your own practice.

Keeping that mental energy up is just as important as the physical challenge, so I try to make time to watch documentaries, inspirational films, and read texts relating to the fitness world. It’s a great way of reminding me why I’m doing what I’m doing. I am striving for a better, healthier lifestyle, and when it starts to get boring, sometimes I just need a good underdog success story to boost me back up. Getting inspired to keep working out is vital for me and many others. It keeps us feeling good about the amount of time and energy we put into ourselves, especially when things start to feel scripted, too routine, or just plain boring.

Keeping ourselves in good workout habits can be a constant struggle. There is always more that we can do to keep our bodies and minds as attuned as possible to good health, better energy and great habits. Keep up the good work and don’t give up!

Becoming Wiser – Lessons In Personal Development

As the saying goes, “the wiser I become, the more I know how much more there is to know.” The tools I share worked for me. They are not the only way, but a way: a way that has guided me towards a level of internal peace and an unconditional love of self. This kind of love transcends judgment and blame. It doesn’t mean goody-goody, nicey-nicey. It does mean balanced sharing, acceptance of self and reality in all moments, service in a non-judgmental state, compassionate loving allowance. Important as the journey of unfolding the inner love through self-discovery and enlightenment is, it is a s important to enjoy life, to be able to develop the ability to laugh at our antics, play with our children, to have balanced sharing, laughter, and a joyful outlook on life while having the time of our lives all along the way. In short ‘lighten up’.

Do not get caught up in the process of attaining your dream where you forget to live life. Smile, laugh, and play like a child in the mystery of the breath that supports life. If your focus remains in attainment, you will always be attaining. See your dream as a reality. A reality you are already living internally by allowing the adventure to empower self through the passion of living wholly your moment-to-moment experiences.

Unfold an expanded level of self-awareness by being aware of the reality you are creating. Continue and build upon the knowing that all that is created is for purpose and good. The purpose is to learn what you are requiring to learn so you can project an expanded level of the internal love. Discover within the created situation what it is you desire to know. Check yourself emotionally; are you holding onto any fear? If so, remember: fear creates losses. If not, go beyond the quest, so you can see yourself as you desire to see yourself. Have faith that whatever is for your highest good will be given unto you. Then follow your heart, your first inclination of direction. Through your daily prayers and meditations, continue to ask for guidance, offer your concerns to a higher source, then go about your day in full faith that your highest good will unfold in perfect timing.

Realize that any form of doubt is created through the limiting aspect of the mind, drawing from past experiences, or future fears of what ifs. Limitations that in reality, have nothing to do with the moment now. Create your dream through the knowing that your worth is not from anything external you place in your life, yet you are worth all things.

Employing a trust that crates a position of strength stability, abundance and the peaceful power that refined unconditional love (love in its purest form) always supports. Creating from fear, a dense for of one’s perception of love, may be a motivation to act (i.e., if I don’t do this, I won’t eat). It is however, the ability to move through the fear that dis-empowers self, so you can expanded your levels of self-realization, inner fulfillment, and abundance in all areas of life.

Veronique’s intensive spiritual quest became expressed in her innovative course The Choice Is Mine. Her work teaches you how to look at life situations so you can know your full potential & act positively on that awareness, to live your dream life sooner rather than later. Take that first step in your self improvement & begin re-aliging your subconscious today.

Structuring Your Workout: Intensity

In the world of working out, there are hundreds of misconceptions that keep people from really starting their total health overhaul. Something that sounds doable when you’re fired up on New Year’s Eve but it might not actually make it past the resolution stage when you realize how intimidating it can be to actually change your own life – and exercising is one of the number one most broken New Year’s Resolutions!

One of the most prominent misconceptions is whether or not it is better to work out less during the week, but have those workouts be highly intensive, or if it’s more productive to workout with less intensity more often. When many people fall under the false realization that they have to be doing extreme workouts daily, it decreases their chance of fitness success and depletes their motivation. Often, when it comes to questions that are similar to this, the best thing to do is to refer to our own sense of physical wellness in order to come up with a personalized result. So much of health is intimate and individual, and one size fits all answers have proven time and time again to be failures in terms of giving broad accurate advice. While it will differ depending on your body type, strength, and overall health, there are some guidelines for you to consider.

No matter where you are in your journey, regular workouts are going to benefit you. Personal training Miami classes and group training Miami classes are great ways of getting structured, intensive exercise into your fitness routine. However, it is important to keep a varied schedule when it comes to which muscle groups are being targeted and in what ways. The same boot camp Miami style workout daily will result in the same muscles being torn without time to heal and grow stronger. Walking on days you’re not doing boot camp, however, keeps you flexible and fit. In contrast, only walking will not help you build the kind of muscle you’d get in an intensive fitness program. Ultimately, the answer to our initial question is that a mix of both low and high intensity workouts in an alternating schedule is the best way to keep yourself where you need to be in your fitness journey.

At the end of the day, it seems that moderation and careful attention is the key to making the most out of any structured exercise practices you may engage in. Keep an eye on how your body feels during and after working out, and always adjust to your own limits, boundaries and goals. Total mind body wellness is dependent on having access to information like this that allows you to understand your health and wellness experiences, and to make informed decisions based on those experiences. Finding the right gym is one of the most sure ways you can gain the information and the tools to keep yourself on track with your fitness goals – whether it was a New Year’s promise or not!

Permission to Play Pretend

Can you remember the feeling of total freedom and adventure you had as a child, climbing trees, running through the woods, and playing pretend on the playground outside of your school? Maybe you played sword fighting with sticks in the park, and dreamed you were saving a kingdom. It didn’t matter how long you were out there playing – it was never long enough, and it went by too fast. The concept of creative reimagining or, the way that you transformed the mundane environment and yourself into something fantastic an exciting made the time go by, and you got a great workout. I never abandoned this practice – it’s made my workouts that much more exciting and effective.

In fact, I think a lot of us do this without realizing it. Zoning out and jogging on the treadmill to The Matrix soundtrack and imagining how in shape I’d have to be in to run away from Mr. Smith was my go-to motivation for a long time. A jogging app exists now that plays false Apocalyptic broadcasts in order to encourage you to really run for your life! Raised on a steady diet of science fiction and fantasy, this is a method that really puts the fire under my feet!

Sports performance Miami professionals might have different methods, but that’s okay. This is what works for me and a lot of people. Just that small amount of imagined fantastic danger and risk can get those creative juices going and make time fly by. Besides, the benefits to letting yourself play pretend is incredible. It helps you find more out of the box solutions in your workplace, and if you’re a creative type like I am, you might dream up whole new storytelling ideas and concepts during this time.

I think a lot of us are used to the structure of personal training Miami classes and group training Miami classes, where we are 100% present and working with the instructor and group to create our fitness experience. It’s very rewarding, but when you are on your own with your earbuds, it’s hard not to space out and let your thoughts roam. Letting your body and conscious mind do their thing frees your subconscious up to solve problems and let loose a little. This de-stressing is vital!

So consider this an official permission slip to play pretend when you’re working out. Yes, even though you are an adult. There’s nothing wrong with a little creative reinvention to keep you busy when you’re having trouble staying on track, or when the time is moving too slowly and the workout seems like an endless, painful inconvenience. This is an invitation to make exercising ridiculous, absurd and absolutely fun again by imagining all the crazy, unrealistic world saving scenarios you can use your healthy body in. Never stop training! Train to slay the dragon, to survive the zombie apocalypse, or to accompany your favorite fictional protagonists on their monster slaying heroic adventures. Whatever it is that keeps you in sync with your routine.

The Benefits of Finding a Gym

Choosing the right gym for you can be incredibly difficult. We all know that working out and changing our diets can be an impossible task if we’re doing it on our own and are new to the process. Many of us have let ourselves get pretty out of shape before we make and actually commit to those New Year’s resolutions, promising good health and regular exercise to our future selves. Being rooted in a sense of community can be a lifesaver. Working side by side with sports performance professionals and other individuals on their way to good health is a great way to stay inspired, especially when things are difficult.

While there are plenty of things you can do outside of gyms that will help you maintain your physical health, there’s no replacement for a state of the art gym experience. Not only do you have access to professionals and personal training Miami classes, but you also have access to the incredible wealth of expensive machines and weights that can aid you in finding the workout routine that works for you. Especially if you are just starting out, there is no way that you can really sample the vast amount of different types of exercises that you might fall in love with and want to pursue – at least, not on your own. Group training Miami classes can be everything from kickboxing to Pilates, and the equipment for working out on your own is just as diverse. This is a fantastic way of narrowing down what kind of work you are interested in, and what it takes to succeed in these different areas.

Boot camp Miami style workouts are as intense as it gets. They aren’t for everyone, at least, not at first. Different muscle groups are targeted throughout this workout cycle, creating something that is exhausting and rewarding. Boot camp style workouts are worth working up to if you have the time, commitment and energy to put into working really hard multiple times a week to achieve extreme results. Each session gives you several different targeted workouts designed to provide tension in multiple parts of the body. That’s why the results are so visible so quickly – there are all kinds of different ways in which the muscles are aggressively targeted and worked. Boot camp classes are some of the most fun, engaging and difficult types of routines you can put your body through and if you can gather the motivation and willpower to stick with it, the results are amazing.

Gyms are community resources that are invaluable when you are just starting your workout journey. There’s no comparison. Sure, walking, jogging, and even working out in personal home gyms can be great for your health, but there’s nothing quite like working out in an environment that is supportive and diverse in its offerings for both classes and equipment. Whether you are a seasoned sports professional or an amateur looking to start your workout journey, a gym is the place that you need to start. Find the right one in your community and change your life today.

Mental Health Through Physical Training

Building a routine for working out is tough, especially if you aren’t used to it. Returning to exercising after years of being lax with yourself is hard. You’re your own disciplinarian, and you’re bound to let yourself get away with skipping your workout, or indulging in comfort food. We all need a little help starting out.

In my own experience, not everybody necessarily needs to work out in a community to keep themselves both challenged and on track. Some people are just born with the gift of self-motivation and they can commit themselves entirely to the task and achieve it, no outside help needed. I am not one of those people – that is to say, I wasn’t, until I used exercise to develop that skillset. While everyone doesn’t need a community like I did, I believe everyone does need access to a gym. The equipment is important, but so is the act of setting aside a time and space that’s sacred – it’s just for your health. Working at my home gym has always seemed like something I can put off until “later” and, of course, later never comes. Forcing myself to go out, and having my trainers and friends hold me accountable when I don’t show up, has been a great motivator. This is especially true in the sense that, when you’re starting out, it can be hard to find your own well of self-generating willpower and motivation. The good news is that is one of the many mental health rewards that regular, structured and dedicated exercise routines will give you.

The gyms Miami has to offer are many. Boot camp style Miami workouts are some of the most exciting and intensive things you can put your body through when you’re getting into the game, but it can be very rewarding to achieve success in such an immediately challenging environment. It’s always good to start somewhere comfortable but aim for a more daunting goal. Walking every day was easy for me starting out, for example, but the kickboxing class scared me but I tried it anyway. It ended up not being my thing, but the act of attending a group training Miami class in kickboxing gave me courage. It was part of me learning my fitness interests and boundaries.

Every challenge gives us something we can learn from. In the world of physical fitness, this is especially true. The mental discipline you can develop carries into every other area of your life. I never thought about exercise that way before until I began to commit my life to it. It’s a constant realization that we are capable of achieving more than we ever thought – that we’re stronger, smarter, and more powerful than we could have imagined. The discoveries you make during your workout journey and the confidence and self-possession it fosters are invaluable. There’s a reason why successful people – whether they are sports professionals, artists, business professionals, etc. – swear by routine workouts. There’s just something there that opens us up creatively and intellectually while we train our bodies.
